The wheel base is 1,495mm, sits 810mm  and weighs 272kg (dry).</p>

<h2 data-fontsize="20" data-lineheight="27"></h2></span></div><button style="color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;" type="button" class="close toggle-alert" data-dismiss="alert" aria-label="Close">&times;</button></div><div class="fusion-text fusion-text-4"><p>When Jaguar introduced the E-Type at the Geneva International Motor Show in March of 1961, the car produced a splash similar to that of the XK120’s premiere in 1948. Not only had Jaguar produced another breathtakingly gorgeous sports car, they had once again reset the standard for the sports car industry. Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type “the most beautiful car ever made,” and one example lives in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, as a testament to the car’s groundbreaking style. Jaguar drove one of their press demonstrators over 600 miles from their factory in Coventry to Geneva, arriving just in time for the car’s unveiling, showing that the E-type’s looks could match its performance.</p>
<h2>Jaguar Series III E-Type Roadster V-12</h2>
<p>Released in 1971, the defining characteristic of the Series III E-Type was its brand new 12-cylinder engine. Greatly increasing the available power and torque over earlier straight-six E-Types, the V-12 of the Series III more than compensated for power decreases due to stricter emissions control in the Series II E-Types. Exterior changes consisted of flared wheel arches to fit the new suspension and wider track, along with a cross-slated front grille. Jaguar only produced the Series III E-Type in two styles, the 2+2 coupe and the roadster, dropping the two-seater coupe. In addition, the roadster adopted the longer wheelbase of the 2+2, making for slightly more interior room.</p>
<p>Finished with a Metalic Grey exterior and Black interior, this 1973 Roadster sports the desirable wire wheels and air conditioning, which is a welcome option in warmer climates.  The owner has used the car sparingly, and it remains in fantastic condition.</p>
<p>The Series III E-Type Roadster offers V-12 open air motoring for a fraction of the cost of similar cars of the same vintage. This E-Type’s 42 years of age. It will surely be a fantastic driver and garner significant attention at future car shows, as it has in the past. Altogether, this car represents an excellent opportunity to purchase an example that will undoubtedly, increase in value.</p>

Its 5.9 litre, 48-valve, V12 engine produced 420 bhp (313 kW; 426 PS) and 400 lb·ft (540 N·m) of torque. It has a compression ratio of 10.3:1.</p>
<p>Transmissions were available with either a TREMEC T-56 six speed manual or a ZF 5HP30 five speed automatic gearbox.</p>
<p>Aston Martin claimed it had a top speed of either 186 mph (299 km/h) with the manual gearbox or 165 mph (266 km/h) with the automatic gearbox, and would accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.9 seconds. It is 4,692 mm long, 1,830 mm (72.0 in) wide, 1,243 mm (48.9 in) high, with a weight of 1,800 kg (3,968.3 lb).</p>

It followed the Jaguar formula—sensational looks and sensational performance—which had been introduced so successfully with the XK120 in 1949 that it was restated with vigor in 1961. The youthful curves of the XK120 had matured with the XK150, while the E-Type made Jaguar young and exciting once again. Replacing the voluptuousness of the former car was the sleekness of the new one. What remained, however, was the undeniable sex appeal of the Jaguar formula.</p>

<p>The E-Type was preceded by the competition D-Type of the mid-1950s and its short-lived production version, the XKSS of 1957. Like the D-Type, the new car used monocoque construction: The front of the chassis featured a space-frame with steel tubes that supported the engine, the front suspension, and the hinged hood and fender assembly, which lifted to provide virtually unlimited engine access. The proven twin-cam inline six-cylinder engine of the former 150S, a four-wheel independent suspension, and disc brakes at each corner were featured, and 150 mph was also promised; all of this for a price of only $6,000!</p>
<p>During 1963, Jaguar produced only 2,023 open two-seat roadsters, including this Old English White over red leather beauty. A canvas black top and black boot as well as a factory hard top complete the handsome ensemble.</p>
<p>This matching-numbers example, featuring its original 3.8-liter inline six, has been meticulously restored by The Mulsanne Motorcar Company of Calgary Alberta. The body has undergone a complete rotisserie rebuild and every aspect of the vehicle, has been painstakingly refurbished, attention to detail is obvious.</p>

It was low and lithe, with a curvaceous envelope body, and it had a newly designed dual overhead-cam six-cylinder of 3,442 cubic centimeters. The model took its name from a May 1949 speed run by a production roadster on Belgium’s Jabbeke Highway, where it was clocked at over 120 mph. There was nothing else like it on the market.</p>
<h2>Enter the 1954 Jaguar XK140 OTS Roadster</h2>
<p>Late in 1954, the chassis was redesigned, with larger torsion bars, better brakes, and rack-and-pinion steering. The engine was given higher-lift camshafts, which had the effect of raising horsepower to 190. There were also subtle appearance changes: the grille was given fewer bars that were more widely spaced, full-width bumpers were added, and flashing directional signals were located in the front fenders, just above the bumper.</p>
<p>Moving the engine forward about three inches allowed for a roomier cockpit, but this required relocating the battery compartment into the front fender. The car was re-designated XK140, and two Special Equipment variants were added, the XK140 M, which included a crankshaft dampener, wire wheels, a dual exhaust, twin fog lamps, and windshield washers, and the XK140 MC, which added the big-valve cylinder head from the C-Type Jaguar, raising horsepower to 210. The three body styles continued in production through mid-1957, with each available in any of the three variants.</p>
<p>This striking car, one of the earlier XK140s, has been beautifully maintained and is in superb condition. Carmen Red over Biscuit leather interior. Driven almost daily, weather permitting, it purrs to life at the touch of the starter button. The engine was changed for a more powerful Jaguar 3.8ltr motor some years, so we cannot say the car is a matching number example. You really do have to drive this stunning car, to appreciate the smooth power and handling.</p>
